Gold miners Nordgold (Nord Gold ) have reported 70 million investment into the Lefa mine in Guinea for 2018. The ''significant investment programme'' is intended to improve efficiencies at the site, as well as extending the mine''s lifespan.
Nordgold was established as Severstal Gold, a gold producing subsidiary of Severstal, the Russian steel company owned by Alexey Mordashov. In early 2007, Severstal acquired the Suzdal and Zherek mines in Kazakhstan, as well as the Aprelkovo and Neryungri mines in Russia.
